When I IMAGINE the future of Community UCC, I first of all place our church's future within the context of the wider church and the growing commonwealth of God. I imagine our congregation as a vital participant in these broader concerns, so my imaginings for CUCC reflect my Understanding of the nature of God's commonwealth as a whole.

During the Consistory retreat, members were throwing out ideas that might help the church grow its connection to the "community." One of those ideas was a Contemporary Worship service, another was working together with the other two churches that cover a three-mile area of the community.
We contacted the presidents of Trinity UCC in Mt. Penn and Schwarzwald UCC and began conversations. Together we began talking about the contemporary worship service and other shared events we could do. We started with a questionnaire that we could send out to our members attending and those who have stepped back from a traditional Sunday morning service. This will be sent out electronically and by snail mail to all members of the church on September 8, Rally Day. One of the comments that came from the group was, "Why did this take so long?" Our next meeting is September 5 at 7 pm. If you are interested in having input on the plan or would like to participate in some manner please contact the church office at 610-779-3955 or office@communityucc.net.
As we continue with this plan, we will also be sharing and posting events that are happening at the other churches and they will be sharing events at our church. We are looking forward to this cooperation growing and continuing to build relationships.

Last week, Cruise Nights opened to a beautiful evening with not a cloud in the sky. The parking lot was full along with the dining room. We sold hamburgers and cheeseburgers on opening night along with our standard items of Hot Dogs, a new addition of hamburger BBQ, tossed salads, milk shakes and sundaes. We hope that you will support this fundraiser for the church and come out for dinner. Service starts at 5 pm and goes until 7 pm. The group was advised that we would not be hosting a cruise night on three nights this year, the first one on June 13 as we will be attending the Reading Phillies. We will post the entire list in an upcoming post. The group also agreed to be here on Halloween and host a Trunk or Treat.
Thank you for sharing these contractors with us. There is a good cross-section of trades represented. We hope that this helps with whatever project you have at your home. We know that you trust them to give good work at a fair price.
The staff at Day Springs put together a video to thank everyone who made Christmas a special time for the residents of the facility. I think from the smiles on their faces, everyone did a great job in making Christmas a special time for them. Click the button to play the video
We have been having a time of fellowship after the service each week with coffee and cookies. I forgot to add it to the calendar at the back of the bulletin this week and while I was typing it in, I missed the "h" in Fellowship. Thus the Fellow-sip time is born after getting approval from Pastor Bob to leave my typo in the bulletin. Some mistakes are just worth it. - Jeff
